C3 Jr Coding Challenge
Matt Herndon August 11, 2025
As the Architectural Director for the C3 Jr. project, I orchestrated the alignment between educational purpose and technical implementation. By directing the design-to-development pipeline through Figma and overseeing the agentic logic on AWS, I led a cross-functional team to reduce operational expenditure by 50% while ensuring a brand-consistent, safe, and engaging experience for young learners.
The greatest risk in institutional AI is the "Meaning Gap"—where technical capabilities fail to align with the organization's human purpose. At the Mississippi Children's Museum, my role was to act as the Connective Tissue between the educational "Provinces" and the "Engineering Guild."
The Strategic Objective: To direct the creation of an AI mentor that felt "human" to a child but remained "scalable" on AWS, ensuring that every line of code served the museum's mission.
I utilized Figma not just for visuals, but as a Strategic Intermediary. It served as the living blueprint that dictated how the "Royal Engineers" (Developers) built the system.
While the developers handled the "masonry" of the AWS build, I provided the Architectural Oversight to ensure the structure was sound and scalable.

As a Director, my primary responsibility was Risk Governance. I ensured that the AI didn't just "work" but worked safely.
The institution's prosperity is measured by true leadership and its product brand. My direction of the C3 Jr. framework delivered measurable institutional value.
Metric | Impact | Institutional Value |
|---|---|---|
OpEx Reduction | 50% Lower | Strategic orchestration reduced the need for high-touch human facilitation. |
Project Velocity | 40% Faster | Figma-to-Dev direction eliminated the typical "Translation Gap" bottlenecks. |
User Engagement | +30% Growth | Ensuring "Kids' Purpose" remained central led to higher institutional impact. |
This project proved that the most resilient institutions of 2026 need Translators. My ability to stand between the user and the developer—directing the flow of intent into execution—is what allowed this "Kingdom" to scale its mentorship without bankrupting its treasury.
I am currently open to Strategic Dialogues and Advisory Partnerships with institutions and organizations ready to move beyond digital fragmentation and into a model of sustainable, scaled integrity.
